Vertrel XF Material Compatibility

This table contains information on material compatibility for the Vertrel XF fluorinated lubricant solvent. It is important to test compatibility on a small area of the material to be cleaned before widespread use.

The manufacturer has tested immersing various different plastics in Vertrel XF for 15 minutes at room temperature, and the following materials have been found to be compatible:

  • Polyethylene
  • Polypropylene
  • Polystyrene
  • Polyester (PET, PBT)
  • Polyphenylene Oxide (PPO)
  • Polyimide (PI, PEI, PAI)
  • Polyetherketone (PEK)
  • Polyaryletherketone (PEEK)
  • Polysulfone
  • Polyarylsulfone
  • Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)
  • ABS
  • Acetal
  • Epoxy
  • Ionomer
  • Liquid Crystal Polymer
  • Phenolic
  • PVC
  • CPVC
  • PTFE
  • ETFE

Please note that this product has been found to be incompatible with acrylic and cellulosic plastics.


The manufactured has tested compatibility with the following metals, by exposing them to Vertrel XL for two weeks at 100 degrees centigrade, with and without the presence of water, and all were found to be compatible.

  • Zinc (slight discolouration with water present)
  • Stainless Steel
  • Aluminium
  • Copper (slight discolouration with water present)
  • Brass (slight discolouration with water present)
